POKEHUMAN STATS
Occupation: Solitary owner of a small bookshop. A rare/antique book enthusiast on the side.
Town of Residence: Laverre City, Kalos
Appearance: No matter where he goes, Blaise always manages to turn heads due to his unusual appearance -- something he wishes wouldn't happen as often as it did. (Green hair stands out like heck in a crowd, but he refuses to dye his hair.) His looks have also netted him a few PR modeling opportunities several times in the past, but he is not too fond of being the centre of attention (no matter how little the attention) and makes an effort to make himself as inconspicuous and mundane as possible most of the time. He is never seen without his signature burgundy scarf -- a memento of days long past.

PERSONALS
Personality:
Star! Warmhearted -- Despite knowing the love of a human caretaker for much less longer compared to other Pokemon, Blaise is extremely compassionate and tends to put the well-being of others before his for as much as he can manage. This can sometimes lead to him mother-henning people (hilarity ensues).
Star! Self-reliant -- Blaise has more or less taught himself how to survive on his own, being used to in-and-out solitude from a young age. He can take care of himself just fine, and can manage to look after a handful of people if the situation should call for it (hence the occasional occurrence of the abovementioned mother-henning).
Star! Level-headed -- (Almost) nothing fazes this Gardevoir. There's a metaphorical wall around the kid that's been up for most of nineteen years, and Arceus'll be damned if anything ever gets past said wall and catches Blaise significantly off-guard.
No Star Wary -- If Blaise doesn't know you or hasn't been acquainted with you yet, there's a good chance he'll stay quiet and indifferent to you for the entire duration of your interaction unless you bother making the first (right) move. Strangely, Blaise's warmth towards people he knows and trusts seems to be inversely proportional to his demeanour when it comes to total strangers -- he is polite but not quick to trust, a result of his many years spent alone.
No Star Obstinate -- Blaise is not used to having company for too long and is accustomed to doing things his own way as he sees fit without any objections. Once he decides on something, he doesn't budge easily and will immediately consider any opposition as an affront to his capabilities before processing what said opposition is even about in the first place. Also gets hella fussy over his friends despite the fact that said friends are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves.
No Star Blunt -- Another result of lack of experience in social interaction. Blaise can sometimes come off as insensitive despite not meaning anything harmful; whatever inadvertent pain he causes, however, he quickly apologizes for, as he's slowly learning to understand how important building and keeping good relationships is.

History: Blaise doesn't remember much of his actual family or his past before the Day Care at all (he says there probably wasn't much to remember in the first place anyway). His earliest memory was of sitting alone in the Day Care waiting for his trainer to pick him up. Young Blaise was caught on Route 102 as a Ralts and subsequently dumped in the Day Care, presumably since his trainer wanted to level him up quickly without much effort. He found it odd since he felt no warm emotions from his new trainer (other than the short euphoria that came with finding and catching a rare Pokemon when they first met in the grass); he told himself it was because they were both new to each other and that he didn't have to worry since they'd become friends in no time, so he trained himself and waited excitedly.

Months passed without a word from the trainer.

The Day Care couple was puzzled; who would leave such a young Pokemon -- especially one who thrived on the relationship between Pokemon and trainer -- behind? Blaise spent months waiting for his trainer, hoping that maybe he could finally journey with them. He was certainly quite strong and already overleveled for a Ralts, as he had foregone interaction with other (breeding or otherwise uninterested) Pokemon to focus on his growth; surely this is what his trainer wanted from him? He readied himself each day to show how much he had grown and how capable he was in case his trainer finally came back, but they never did.

In the end, he could no longer stand the pity he could feel roiling off his caretakers in waves as they threw sad glances at the Ralts waiting by the fence everyday in solitude. Poor thing, they said, his trainer forgot about him. Abandoned. Kids these days. Irresponsible. Poor thing. Poor, poor thing.

He left. If there was one thing he couldn't handle, it was anyone feeling sorry for him. He didn't need pity, didn't want any of it. He was stronger than that. He could handle himself. If there was one thing he learned from his absent trainer, it was that he didn't need anyone's help to get by. He tried to get himself as far away as his little legs could take him, but physical and emotional exhaustion soon got the better of him and the little Ralts soon fainted in a grassy patch.

Days later, Blaise woke up in a small house that smelled of fresh air and flowers. It belonged to a kindly old human couple in Verdanturf who found the unconscious Ralts on one of their late afternoon walks; wrapping the Pokemon up in a warm burgundy scarf, they rushed to a Pokemon Centre immediately. It was this old couple that gave Blaise his name; he spent his days happily with the old couple who loved him dearly, and he thought, happily, that maybe he finally had a home, somewhere to belong --

And then the great Cataclysm happened. The intermittent rain and harsh sunlight proved to be stressful for the old couple, who had both become bedridden in a hospital as a result of growing weakness and an increased susceptibility to sickness due to their old age and weakening bodies. Blaise stayed by their side at the hospital; despite the fact that his time with them barely lasted a month, he knew they loved him, and they in turn were special to him, being the first people who truly took him in as their own. One day the old couple gently walked him to a grassy field, wrapped a red scarf around him -- the scarf they used to carry young Blaise to the Pokemon Centre when they found him -- and told him, sadly, that it was time for them to part ways. The last thing Blaise wanted was to leave, but he could sense the pain in the old couple's hearts and understood they could not take care of him forever.

Thrust back into the world he had thought he had left behind, Blaise found himself alone once more, with only a scarf to serve as a reminder of the home he once had.

It was about time he made use of his training at the Day Care, he reckoned. Still stuck as a Ralts at level 36, he decided to fight a few battles in the wild and Teleport away when the going got tough -- this way, he evolved to a Kirlia and then to a Gardevoir after a handful of battles, although it took some time since he ended up Teleporting more than he'd liked. Blaise travelled alone for a while for several years, avoiding encounters, keeping under the radar and going places without being found out.

He found himself in Kalos after quite a bit of travelling around, and this is how he became acquainted with the Dittech. A Zoroark in Laverre passed him his old Dittech, saying that he had no use for his old one since he just got an upgraded model (and that Blaise should give the Dittech a spin if he wanted some fun). Blaise found no harm in trying, and was pleasantly surprised to find that he had taken on the form of a human. He was suddenly reminded of the old couple who took him in; he decided he could keep them in his thoughts always by trying to live the same way they did and understanding how they did it. Patting his scarf down gently, he wrapped it around his neck in the way his old foster mother always used to wear it and smiled.

Extras: Blaise is admittedly bad at people, but he's certainly open to making new friends (as long as they don't offend his sensibilities). He currently lives on his own and, despite enjoying a solitary lifestyle, undeniably gets a little lonely sometimes. He settled in Laverre because of his fondness for antiquity and runs a little bookshop there, as well as a collection of rare and old books of all kinds, shapes and sizes.

He sees little bits of the future and other premonitions in his dreams sometimes. (Needless to say, encountering people on the street that he's dreamt about at some point certainly ends up feeling like déjà vu.)

He likes being warm.

Relationships:
So far:
Allie -- Allie's a good kid and is someone Blaise enjoys talking to simply because the boy is a wonderful presence to be around. Blaise worries about him sometimes.
Argent -- Often on the receiving end of most of Blaise's well practiced snark. Blaise is convinced that Argent owns the warmest and most comfortable jackets in the world. Easygoing demeanour aside, there's something else about him that draws Blaise in, but he won't admit it. (Not out loud, at least.) Secretly hates the fact that Argent likes to disappear for weeks at a time.
Cari -- Another source of warmth. He enjoys having the refreshingly playful Cari around, but she scares him sometimes. Often teleports away from the poor girl since she tends to ask a lot of questions Blaise isn't sure he knows how to answer. Or wants to.
Eilam -- He worries about the old Xatu's eating habits (pancakes and oatmeal for days, anyone) but as long as he's healthy he figures it's okay. Used to worry every single time Reus and Eilam squabbled (which happens more often than not) but has acquired a sort of resignation towards said shenanigans. Eilam also likes to keep to himself, something Blaise appreciates in people. He holds a lot of respect for the old bird.
Fern -- Blaise cares about Fern a lot and will do his best to ensure her wellbeing. He's one of the few people whose voice Fern can hear due to his ability to communicate with her telepathically, and he uses this to help her whenever he can.
Gil -- To Blaise, Gil's like that one embarrassing uncle most families usually have -- playful and teasing, and, most of the time, annoyingly right. He tends to brush off some of Gil's banter at times, but appreciates his genuine advice.
Reus -- Blaise is "pretty mouthy for a kid", according to Reus, but he does respect the man a great deal. Blaise is comfortable enough around him that his conversations with Reus are filled with mostly snark these days; however, he knows better than to legitimately tick him off. They get along all right.
Ryker -- It's after one particular dinner at the Lumiose household that Blaise finds out that the Ryker Fern keeps talking about is the same one that cuts his hair every now and then -- a pretty nice guy, as he recalls. Blaise is pretty pleased to see Fern's in good hands.

Role-Play Example:

The little bell at the door tinkled, signifying the arrival of a customer.

Blaise looked up briefly from his appraisal and called out a soft greeting, turning back to the yellowed pages once more. It was a Wednesday morning; sunlight streamed through the shop windows and the streets of Laverre were quiet, the only nearby sounds coming from a Fletchling warbling by the windowsill.

The customer murmured assent and shuffled around quietly for a few minutes, disappearing into the rows of shelves. Typical behaviour of the browsing patrons who never actually buy anything, Blaise noted silently, still engrossed in his labours.

A few minutes passed in complete silence, and Blaise looked up from his work to take a look around the shop. Surely they had not passed out or something equally as absurd? Having a strange feeling that something might have gone a little awry, he stood up from his work table and ventured into the shelves.

Blaise was as silent as a ghost; this effect was not lost on the seemingly oblivious customer, who appeared to be hiding behind the shelves talking very quietly (and urgently, it seemed) on the phone to someone who sounded like her superior. The customer appeared to be a stylishly dressed young woman around his age; Blaise had a sneaking suspicion that her visit to the store was probably for something other than purchasing or browsing the books on the shelves, and his mounting alarm grew. Coughing once to signify his presence, he asked, "Is there anything I can do for you today, ma'am?"

The shriek the woman made was louder than anything Blaise had ever imagined could come from the mouth of a grown woman. (Babies were a different matter entirely; they seemed to be little more than screaming poop factories, he noted.)

The woman whirled around and laughed sheepishly, leaning heavily against a shelf in relief. (Blaise felt a light pounding sensation starting at his temple and hoped the books wouldn't fall over on the other side. People.) Coughing again, he asked, "May I help you?"

Extending her bracelet-encrusted hand, the woman smiled toothily and said, "My name is Miranda, and it's lovely to finally meet you, Blaise!"

Taking her hand after a moment's hesitation, he replied, "Well, Miranda, I assume this visit has nothing to do with books or rare manuscripts..."

Miranda flashed a wide grin once more and said, "How would you like to model for us at the PR Studios in Lumiose sometime? Agencies have been trying to scout you for a while now with little success -- we thought we'd give it a shot straight from the head office! How about it?"

The light pounding turned into a full-on headache, and Blaise raised a hand to his face. Not again.
